After College Gene spent several years with various
companies in Personnel Management and with the Missouri Division of Employment
Security. He also operated three different businesses in McDonald County from
1978 through 1986.
Gene was elected McDonald County Clerk in 1987 and held that position until 1995
when he was elected Circuit Clerk and Recorder, a position which he still holds.
Gene has a profound interest in the history of McDonald County and in preserving
what we do have. In the early 1990’s he was successful in obtaining two
different grants from the Missouri Local Records Grant Program. With these
grants we have been able to undertake recovering and preserving many old records
from the old Courthouse. We also were able to refurbish the old County Jail and
convert it into a record storage facility.
Gene’s desire is to continue to be actively involved in preserving our past and
future county history and encourage others to get involved. |
